Provide consultation and education for inpatients and their families referred by physicians or are identified at nutritional risk, for nutrition related problems, ! preventive health measures, and acute/chronic disease management. Participate in daily interdisciplinary rounds to communicate the nutrition care plan with other members of the care team. Provide recommendations for appropriate medical nutrition therapy including enteral nutrition support, which is evidence based. Lecture to physicians, residents, medical students and other health professionals as scheduled. Serve on intradepartmental and/or interdepartmental committees to improve patient care. Work with diet technicians to provide timely education and assist with nutrition care plan progress monitoring. Supervise the clinical experience of dietetic interns and students.
The clinical nutritionist works independently and freely interacts with all patient care providers, i.e. physicians, case managers, nurses, speech pathologists, pharmacists, other disciplines and students. Interactions occur at all organizational levels through medical service specific and interdep! artmental committee meetings. External interaction is frequent! and includes communication with clinic staff, health care agencies, extended care facilities, and area hospitals. The complexity of problems the clinical nutritionist encounters includes intra and extra-departmental process failures in meeting patients needs and synthesizing care plans for patients with complex histories and multiple biochemical abnormalities. Innovative thinking is necessary to reconcile provision of adequate nutrition with multiple constraints imposed by the patient¿s age, chronic illness/terminal status and the hospital infrastructure. Organizational skill is essential to meet the performance requirements of the position.¿¿¿
Qualifications
1. Master's degree in nutrition or related field required
2. Two (2) years related clinical nutrition experience required
3. Two (2) years experience of direct patient care including critical care experience preferred
4. Must be a Certified Dietitian in the State of Wisconsin required! . Must be a Registered Dietitian as delineated by the Commission on Dietetic Registration. Maintenance of continuing education requirements for dietetic registration
5. CNSC, CDE, CSG, CSR, CSO preferred
6. Participate in on call required for weekend and holiday coverage
7. Physical Requirements: Sedentary: able to lift up to 10 pounds.
Pay
This is a Non-Represented position and falls into Pay Grade 8. The salary range begins at $55,024 per year. Education, experience, tenure and internal equity may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm with weekend and holiday rotations required. Hours may vary based on the operational needs of the department.
