D6/5 - Acute Medical/Progressive Care Unit
D6/5 is an Acute Medical and Progressive Care Unit. Th! e Acute Care Unit is comprised of 21 medical beds with acutely ill patients who have a variety of co morbidities that impact their primary diagnosis, medical, and nursing plan of care. Some patients suffer from multisystem disease processes that require specialized nursing care with the potential for more intensive monitoring and care when unforeseen complications arise. The unit also specializes in care of patients with Cystic Fibrosis. Progressive Care is an 8 bed unit for patients with fragile hemodynamic stability and requires an increased level of nursing care and surveillance which prevents them from transitioning to a medical unit. Some patients transition from a critical care unit directly to Progressive Care to promote continuity by allowing specialized monitoring, treatments, and nursing care to continue without jeopardizing quality and outcomes. Nurses embrace the Primary Nurse Model of Care and are all knowledgeable and competent in providing care to both Acute ! Medical/Progressive Care patients. In addition to being profic! ient in noninvasive and invasive cardiac monitoring and certified in Advanced Cardiac Life Support, nurses pursue specialty certification in Medical-Surgical and Progressive Care Nursing.

Qualifications

Education:
1. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.

Work Experience:
1. Two (2) year relevant clinical experience required.
2. Critical care or IMC training preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:
1. Registration as a professional nurse in the State of Wisconsin required.
2. CPR certification required.
3. ACLS preferred.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.
2. Experience in teaching patients and families.
3. Excellent communication skills.
4. Ability to effectively delegate and supervise the work of other nursing team members.

Physical Requirements:
! Medium- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Pay

This is a Represented position and falls into Pay Grade 6FR. The salary range begins at $29.43 per hour. Education, experience, tenure and internal equity may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.

Work Schedule

90%, Evening/Night, every other weekend. This is a continuous recruitment position.
