Under general supervision, support Pediatric Emergency Research objectives including enrollment of eligble pediatric patients, support of data systems, and patie! nt/family follow-up telephone calls as necessary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
1.
Monitor incoming pediatric emergency patients and notify appropiate personnel of their eligibility for research projects according to pre-defined inclusion criteria.
2.
Explain and obtain Informed Consent-Participation Agreement from parents of eligible patients.
3.
Maintain accurate and timely research records while maintaining patient confidentiality, according to the principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP).
4.
Perform chart abstraction and data entry of research records, data collection sheets and tracking forms.
5.
Contact patients and make telephone follow-up calls to patient familites as required by research protocols.
6.
Prepare appropiate study documentation packets as required to supply ongoing studies.
7.
Provide general clerical support to investigators.

8.
Obtain and handle simple non-invasive specime! ns and samples as appropriate to study protocols, if indicated.
Qualifications
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis
Education:
High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelors Degree or enrollment in a health related or social science program (i.e. nursing, allied health, medicine, social work, psychology) preferred.
Experience:
2 years of related experience.
Prior clinical research experience including patient/family interactions and familiarity with medical terminology preferred.
Certifications/Licenses:
CITI training is required within 90 days of hire.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Excellent oral and written communication skills are essential. Comfort with giving presentations necessary, since study enrollment is the highest priority of this position. Strong problem solving and attentivene! ss to detail required.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
PC-based database skills including keyboarding and data entry.
Medical terminology and ability to read charts a plus.
