This is a temporary position helping with our annual TB/Flu clinic. The position will run from approximately 9/17/12 to 11/10/12. Dates may vary based on department needs.
The Employee Health Service (EHS) Nurse Clinician -(Temporary) Confidential is a registered nurse who provides direct and indirect nursing care for University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinic (UWHC) employees with particular emphasis in the area of occupational health. Through established protocols and current standards of care, and under the supervision of the Nurse Practitioner (NP) and Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM), this position functions to meet the wide variety of health care needs of the UWHC employee population. Key responsibilities include providing immunizations and TB skin tests to UWHC employees.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Safely gives immunizations and TB skin tests to UWHC employees per protocol or as instructed by the NP, CNM or MD. Documents appropriate information regarding the above in the employee's EHS medical file 2. Updates EHS record after a procedure is performed (N95 mask fit testing, immunization or TB skin test is given). 3. Consults with the EHS physician, CNS, and CNM if questions/concerns about vaccinating and/or giving TB skin test to employees and other work-related questions employees may pose or present with in EHS. 4. Maintains and ensures confidentiality of patient information and medical records.
Qualifications
Education Preferred: Graduation from an accredited school of nursing with BS degree in Nursing.
Licenses & Certifications Minimum: Registered Nurse Licensed in the State of Wisconsin. CPR certification.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
1. Advanced knowledge and skill in all aspects of immunizations for adults. 2. Advanced knowledge and skill in all aspects of TB skin testing. 3. Knowledgeable of current literature applicable to immunizations specific for health care workers and TB skin testing.
Work Schedule
This is a part time, temporary position to assist with our annual employee TB/Flu Clinic for Fall 2012.
Monday through Friday between the hours of 7:00 am and 5:00 p.m. Hours will vary based on clinic operational needs. The hiring department will set the schedule with qualifed applicants at the time of offer. This position will require someone to work between 20-40 hours per week.
