Under the general supervision of the Surgical Services Business Operations Manager, the Business Operations Specialist is responsi! ble for contributing to the comprehensive analysis, reporting and oversight of the Surgical Services financial performance. The incumbent will assist the Surgical Services management team with a variety of routine analysis of financial outcomes and data analysis. This includes actively participating in the annual budget preparation and capital equipment needs. The incumbent is expected to identify and implement cost reduction strategies to meet UWHC fiscal targets and is expected to possess organizational skills that will assist in the effective planning and management of projects and efficiency improvement. The incumbent will also have involvement in Surgical Services contract analysis and participation in negotiation.
To carry out the goals of this position, the incumbent must have well developed computer database and analytical abilities and a strong command of a number of PC applications.
The position will require excellent interpersonal skills for int! eraction with Surgical Services, financial, purchasing, inform! ation technology, and other staff members. The duties of the position require the incumbent to concentrate in a complex environment while doing multiple activities.
Qualifications
1. Bachelor¿s degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Information Systems, or closely related field required.
2. A minimum of one to two years of professional accounting, business administration, finance, or information systems experience, preferably in a health care setting.
3. Previous work experience in a health care setting required.
4. Thorough knowledge of computer systems and the ability to effectively utilize software applications (specifically Microsoft Excel® and Microsoft Word®) including spreadsheet development and database development required.
5. Project management skills required.
6. Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
7. Experience in budget development and ! fiscal management in a healthcare organization required.
8. Effective interpersonal relations skills promoting teamwork and collaborative alliances required.
9. Excellent organizational and time management abilities required.
10. Strong ability to apply the principles and practices of cost accounting, financial analysis, and cost benchmarking required.
11. Ability to work effectively and independently manage tasks in a fast-paced environment required.
12. Ability to analyze and solve complex issues and problems required.
13. Ability to initiate and follow through on complex programs of both short and long term duration required.
14. Physical Requirements: Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out jo! b duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only ! occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met
Pay
This is a Non-Represented position and falls into Pay Grade 7. The salary range begins at $49,560 per year. Education, experience, tenure and internal equity may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm.
