Performing laboratory procedures (i.e.

strep test, wound culture, specimen collection, etc.) using principles of aseptic technique and standard precautions / infection control guidelines. Assisting the physician/provider with procedures and surgeries such as pelvic exams, allergy scratch testing, EMG, cautery, colposcopy, etc Providing basic patient education on the performance of routine tasks or skills. Following through with necessary procedure or test requests, prescription refills, new appointment times and referrals to other facilities or services. Referring questions to registered nurses and physicians/providers per scope of practice guidelines and relaying information back to patient as directed.

Communicating with physicians and other members of the health care team. Documenting and communicating accurate and timely information regarding patient conditions. Organizing and preparing exam rooms, lab and work areas including: cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment.General Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited medical assistant program, OR, knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform this job are typically acquired through one year of progressively responsible experience as a medical assistant with demonstrated competency in performing skills such as: injections, immunizations, EKG, obtaining vital signs, routine medication administration, aseptic technique and infection control guidelines.

Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Health Care Providers certification granted by the American Heart Association or obtained within six months of employment.Desired Qualifications One year related experience. Completion of clinical observation. Proficient computer skills including keyboarding, navigation within a windows operating system, and use of electronic mail with exposure to electronic medical records systems.
