The Pediatric Satellite Unit is a 7 bed unit that provides many opportunities for nurses who are interested i! n caring for children. Nurses care for children from Newborn to the adolescence who have a wide variety of complex medical and surgical problems, including organ transplantation, congenital anomalies, pulmonary disorders, renal disorders, cardiovascular defects, esophageal reflux, diabetes, trauma, urology surgical repairs, patients with hematological and oncology disorders, and patients with a tracheotomy. The care that is given is customized to the individual patients and family's physiological, emotional, cultural and spiritual needs. Our focus is health orientated; we will work in a collaborative manner by using our cutting edge skills in assessments, interventions and treatment to restore our children and their family to their highest level of recovery. The nurse works very closely with a multidisciplinary team which includes Physicians, Respiratory therapy, Physical therapy, Psychology, Surgeons, Case manager, Social worker and Child life specialists to coordinate a h! olistic plan of care for the patient and family.

Qual! ifications

Education:
1. Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.

Work Experience:
1. One (1) year relevant pediatric nursing experience or (1) year of recent adult inpatient nursing experience and successful completion of the LEAP program required.
2. Experience within a Children's Hospital preferred.

Licenses & Certifications:
1. Registration as a professional nurse in the State of Wisconsin required.
2. CPR certification required.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.
2. Experience in teaching patients and families.
3. Excellent communication skills. Ability to effectively delegate and supervise the work of other nursing team members.
4. Demonstrates ability to use pediatric critical thinking skills
5. Demonstrates ability to provide developmentally appropriate patient and fam! ily centered care

Physical Requirements: Medium- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

Pay

This is a Represented position and falls into Pay Grade 6FR. The salary range begins at $29.08 per hour. Education, experience, tenure and internal equity may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.

Work Schedule

70%, Evening/Night, 8/12 hour shifts, A weekend rotation.
