The IS Supervisor is responsible for supervising a professional work team of database administrators.! The database administration team is responsible for the performance, maintenance, updating, upgrading, processing, hardware, backup and recovery, and other activities related to database administration. The team supports patients, medical faculty, clinical staff, administrative staff, clinical departments, and IS application teams across multiple business organizations that require database administration and support including (but not restricted to) Epic (cache), Epic Clarity (Oracle), Peoplesoft (Oracle), SQL, data warehousing (Netezza), etc.. The incumbent ensures the effective operation of the team and is accountable for the successful completion of all projects and tasks assigned to the work group. The incumbent plans, organizes, assigns, schedules and controls work flow for the team.

The IS Supervisor functions as a team leader in the Information Services Department ensuring effective operation of the team as a customer-focused, service-oriented team providi! ng the highest quality services to UW Health. The incumbent as! sists in development and adherence of policies and procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the department and actively participates in departmental planning.

The IS Supervisor functions as an expert resource in advanced systems analysis for lower level staff and users to assist in complex problem troubleshooting and resolution. The incumbent coordinates projects by assigning sections to lower level staff or assigning entire projects to Senior Analysts. The incumbent is responsible for ensuring that all subordinate staff members receive the necessary training to function at their assigned level.

The incumbent works with users and within appropriate governance structures to determine system requirements, process re-engineering issues, solution design, and implementation strategies. Work at this level involves justifying system design and concepts to end users in a manner that is easily understood. The incumbent must possess organizational skills that! lead to the effective management of projects, applications and employees. These skills include: analysis, problem definition and solution, conflict resolution, team/project management, planning and consulting. Excellent communication skills are crucial to successful performance in this position. This position requires the ability to independently evaluate and analyze subject matter and develop specifications to create or enhance network functions to best support business needs.

Problems encountered are of a high degree of complexity and difficulty and require exceptional analytical skills, innovation and creativity to formulate and implement the mechanisms to identify and solve problems. Database administration project plans are often developed using only broad guidelines and require a high degree of independence and decision-making.

A wide variety of internal and external relationships are involved to perform the duties in this position. Internal contact! s include representatives from the Hospital and Clinics, Medical Founda! tion, Medical School and Unity Health Insurance. External contact is primarily with software and hardware vendors and industry peers. Developing and maintaining good communication and collaboration with these contacts is essential to accomplishing the objectives of this position and the goals of the UW Health enterprise.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor or Technical degree in a Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
2. Master¿s degree preferred.
3. Five to seven years progressively responsible work experience functioning as a Systems Analyst including significant project management experience and/or similar experience in related field and/or accelerated exceptional performance required.
4. Seven to ten years progressively responsible work experience functioning as a Systems and Senior Systems Analyst including significant project management experience and/or similar ex! perience in related field and/or accelerated exceptional performance preferred.
5. Experience supervising staff preferred but not preferred.
6. Experience supporting databases and/or enterprise applications in a 24x7 hospital setting is preferred.
7. Database Management System (DBMS) certification from either MicroSoft (MCTS, MCITP), Oracle (OCA, OCP, OCM), or Sun (CMA, CMDEV, CMDBA); Epic Cache certification
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities required.
8. Excellent communication, problem-solving and organizational abilities required.
9. Ability to work independently and be result oriented required.
10. Strong analytical skills to include the understanding and documentation of business/clinical processes and the ability to identify opportunities to improve processes through technology required.
11. Excellent communication skills in both written and verbal presentation required.
12. Demonstrates effective communication with senior m! anagement, clinical, administrative, revenue cycle and operational cust! omers, vendors, and external healthcare organizations required.
13. Ability to work well with people from different disciplines with varying degrees of technical experience required.
14. Ability to provide leadership and promote teamwork required.
15. Ability to manage project implementation teams and individuals and monitor the deliverables of each team to ensure milestone and on-budget completion required.
16. Demonstrates ability to mentor staff and assist them in attaining desired results based on individual goals and objectives required.
17. Effective interpersonal skills required.
18. Consultative approach to working with users in assessing needs and requirements required.
19. Ability to manage multiple tasks with ease and efficiency required.
20.Ability to effectively manage change required.
21. Physical Requirements: Sedentary: Ability to lift up to 10 pounds maximum and occasionally lifting and/or carrying such articles as! dockets, ledgers and small tools. Although a sedentary job is defined as one, which involves sitting, a certain amount of walking and standing is often necessary in carrying out job duties. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and other sedentary criteria are met.

Pay

This is a Non-Represented position and falls into Pay Grade 10. The salary range begins at $71,347 per year. Education, experience, tenure and internal equity may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.

Work Schedule

Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm
