The HEAD AND NECK Cancer Coordinator is a registered nurse who is accountable for effective coordinat! ion of the HEAD AND NECK Cancer patient across multiple settings including diagnostic, treatment and follow/up phases of care. The HEAD AND NECK Cancer Coordinator systematically triages patients based upon clinical problems and educational needs, provides coordination of care for the HEAD AND NECK Cancer patient, and is also a resource to clinic staff in regard to the direct provision of care.
The HEAD AND NECK Cancer Coordinator is an active member of the multidisciplinary team and collaborates in the development, execution and evaluation of the multidisciplinary plan of care. He/She considers factors related to ethics, safety, effectiveness and cost in planning and delivering care.
The HEAD AND NECK Cancer Coordinator establishes goals and strategies for meeting the continuing care needs of the patient, family, and/or other care provider. He/She provides care in collaboration with other nursing staff members. He/she works with clinical research personne! l to integrate research into patient care.
The HEAD A! ND NECK Cancer Coordinator utilizes research findings in cancer and participates in clinical trials for this patient population. He/She demonstrates knowledge of and participates in improving organizational performance activities. The nurse coordinator acquires and maintains knowledge in HEAD AND NECK Cancer nursing practice and assumes responsibility for the professional development of self, other nursing staff and students.
The HEAD AND NECK Cancer Coordinator works with the team to assure that systems of care are in place for patients to move across the continuum of care. This includes development of patient care protocols, order sets, and systems that allow care to take place in an effective and efficient manner. Also puts systems in place to evaluate the effectiveness of patient care
Qualifications
Education:
1. BSN required.
2. Masters degree preferred.
Work Experience:
1. One year relevant clinical experie! nce required.
2. Two years relevant oncology clinical experience preferred.
Licenses & Certifications:
1. RN in state of Wisconsin required.
2. CPR certification required.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
1. Knowledge regarding quality improvement and standards of care within practice area.
2. Experience in teaching patient and families.
3. Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Physical Requirements:
1. Sedentary: able to lift up to 10#
Pay
This is a Non-Represented position and falls into Pay Grade 8N. The salary range begins at $60,527 per year. Education, experience, tenure and internal equity may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.
Work Schedule
Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 5:00pm with rare weekend hours. Hours may vary due to the operational needs of the department.
