The Nurse Manager (NM), Universal Unit (UU), is a registered nurse with demonstrated expertise in pediatric nu! rsing, leadership and management skills. The NM, demonstrating a high degree of professionalism, directs the planning, implementation and evaluation of patient care programs for pediatric patients requiring general to intensive care. The NM will collaborate with health care team members to design a care delivery model that supports inter-professional collaboration and care planning to meet the individual needs of the patient and family. He/she works collaboratively with associated patient care units, clinics, and other community settings to optimize clinical and operational outcomes for this pediatric population. The incumbent works within Nursing Administration and in collaboration with Medical and SON Faculty to assure the delivery of quality patient outcomes and to promote education and research. The NM will also be responsible for managing the Pediatric Supplemental Staff.

The incumbent is responsible for creating an environment conducive to achieving quality o! utcomes, effective use of resources and retention of quality s! taff. He (she) is responsible for the management and development of his (her) resources, human and fiscal. FTE¿s, budgets, implementation of quality control, quality improvement, satisfaction of patients, families, staff and physicians as well as review and revision of policies and procedures are responsibilities of the NM. The NM collaborates with other disciplines on issues related to the effective management of patient care and interacts regularly with the appropriate resources to ensure the effectiveness of patient care. He/she also closely works with nursing faculty to provide students with sufficient educational opportunities to develop and enhance their skills and competence in the care of patients in a clinical environment. The NM is a resource within the institution and to the community regarding pediatric care issues. The NM is responsible to the Director of Pediatric Nursing and Clinical Services UW American Family Children¿s Hospital.

Qualifications
Education:
1. BSN and; (required)
2. Master¿s degree (or within six (6) months of graduation) in relevant area required.
3. MSN preferred.

Work Experience:
1. Five (5) years relevant experience including three (3) years of pediatric nursing experience within a Children¿s Hospital required.

Required Licenses/Certifications:
1. RN, Licensed in State of Wisconsin required.

Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities:
1. Progressive nursing management experience with demonstrated success and/or demonstrated leadership in an advanced practice nursing role.

Physical Requirements:
Light: Ability to lift up to 20 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and/or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds. Even though the weight lifted may be only be a negligible amount, a job is in this category when it requires walking or standing to a significant degree.

Pay
!
This is a Non-Represented position and falls into Pay Grade 10N. T! he salary range begins at $78,481 per year. Education, experience, tenure and internal equity may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.

Work Schedule

100%, Day, Monday - Friday.
