JOB SUMMARY
The Petrology Laboratory Analyst processes surface rock samples, drilled cuttings, cores, pipeline/turbine scales and other special samples such as corrosion coupons and filtered solids needed for petrographic, XRD, fluid inclusion microthermometry, rock density and SEM-EDX analyses. The Petrology Laboratory Analyst also assists the Petrologist in establishing priorities of sample processing activities, monitoring of the annual calibration and preventive maintenance schedules of all Petrology Laboratory Services (PLS) equipment to ensure their accurate and efficient operations for timely submission of petrological analyses that are used for further geologic and geochemical evaluations. The Analyst also assists in and facilitates the submission of applications and release of required government clearances, including that of the operation of the X-Ray Diffractometry (XRD), as well as provides critical inputs for the continuous improvement of the existing sample processing procedures and methods and in operational costs management and contribution to revenue generation.
