The UWHC Surgical Technologist - Objective has the responsibility of preparing the Operating Room prior to surgery,! providing assistance to the surgeon during surgery, caring for the patient during surgery and caring for the instruments and supplies used in surgery. The UWHC Surgical Technologist - Objective, under the supervision of an RN, can perform all of the functions described, with little or no guidance. Educational activities are directed toward updating knowledge and both refining and broadening skills. The UWHC Surgical Technologist - Objective demonstrates willingness to teach skills and share knowledge. The UWHC Surgical Technologist - Objective is a Surgical Technologist with less than one year of clinical experience involving complex multi-service populations. The UWHC Surgical Technologist is an on-the-job learning position which requires the frequent direct supervision by an RN. This individual possesses knowledge and skills required to assist in effectively caring for patients of all age groups (neonate, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric).
Qualificati! ons
1. Successfully completed an accredited surgical ! technologist program or equivalent combination of education and/or experience required.
2. Successful completion of service specific portion of the UWHC Surgical Technologist competencies
3. Strong communication skills/guest relations.
4. Ability to function effectively as a team player.
5. Excellent organization priority setting skill.
6. On-call required. Call response time of 45 minutes (45 minutes from phone call, dressed in scrubs and reporting to charge nurse.) (For Inpatient and AFCH staff only, excluding permanent night rotation)
7. Physical Requirements: Medium- ability to lift up to 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting/and or carrying objects weighing up to 25 pounds.

This position is being posted at multiple levels. Selection would be based on seniority as follows: the candidate with the highest seniority across all levels will be selected unless the candidate at the higher level has spec! ial skills and abilities required for the position.
Pay
This is a Represented position and falls into Pay Grade P. The salary range begins at $20.56 per hour. Education, experience, tenure and internal equity may be taken into consideration when job offers are extended.
Work Schedule
Day/Evening rotation, between the hours of 7:00am and 11:30pm. Call responsibility including weekdays, weekends, and holidays required.
